Re: Best Agency based on PRICE only

most cruise lines do not allow discounting on their advertised price. i offer obc, and in some cases a cash back option. i have had bookings transferred to me in order to have someone as an advocate should something fail. the cruise lines frown on rebates, but of course, no one can tell you what to do with your commission. morris travel and cruises 702-203-4534 direct and text fmorristravellv@aol.com

many of the prices that are lowered are companies that rebate or wholesalers I only go by cruisline prices and do the best for my clients . I also price match and of course they get a thank you gift onboard for booking with me . You are very informed always check I tell my clients sometimes i cant check daily but if they see a lower price email me or call me and I get it done When a price is lowered by the cruisline I do not lower my thank you gift I do however give an onboard credit to all my clients Some cruieslines will not let us advertise this but I assure you None can lower a price unless they go through Expedi: Orbitz or a wholesale broker i have lost clients who said they found it cheaper and my answer are they there when you are stuck or something comes up ? They still go for lower price i roll my eyes to:rolleyes:

Yes, sweetpea, I chuckle to myself each time I read here or on other forums this line repeated over and over: "I prefer to book directly with the cruise line so I can handle everything myself and know it is right. I can do anything a TA can do." These folks have obviously 1.) never been stuck in a situation where ONLY an agency with their buying power and direct contacts at the cruise line can get something done for you (they call in and get whoever answers the phone but the TA calls directly to their top level contact at the cruise line), 2.) never been on a ship where the cruise is telling them the next cruise paperwork was never mailed in when it was, 3.) do not understand that the TA can see all of the available cabins -- not just want the cruise line wants you to think are available (might not include the best), 4.) never had a terrible experience on a cruise that the cruise line only wants to apologize for but the agency gets either a huge discount or a free future cruise due to their standing with the cruise line. Those people might have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night BUT they can not do everything a professional TA can do. It blows my mind why anyone would not find a good TA to do all the work for them AND give them some money back that cruise line will not then handle any and all problems that might arise as only a TA can. The only thing I can figure out is that they must have more time and money than brains.

as a travel agent, i walk my clients through each step, and make sure everything runs smoothley, as well as making sure you are getting the best price. a travel agent works for you, and looks out for your best interest, can offer knowledge and experience, and will be an advocate should something fail.

Re: Best Agency based on PRICE only

I guess I wasn't being clear. I read the whole thread. What I am trying to say is whenever I look to the sites indicated and even some others don't listed, I never see a cheaper price. The sites list a price sometimes called "brochure" or something and it is high then they list their price. Their price is the same as the cruise line price.
After reading this thread I went to some of the sites listed and the prices are once again the same price as the cruise I am currently booked on. So what I meant by I don't get it is....where are all these cheap prices or lower prices on these web sites. And how do I miss them?

Re: Best Agency based on PRICE only

    Dear T,

You won't find the lower price advertised unless it is group space held by and agency at a lower price or a wholesaler. Most cruise lines do not allow price discounting. You have to do your homework and put your proposed cruise on cruisecompete.com or cruisemuse.com and find an agency who is willing to offer you OBC and/or has group space on the cruise you want.. Or try the agencies responding here who have said they will share their commission with you. I'll bet someone would love to have your 3 cabin booking and give you OBC for them. You said you didn't want to list to those on the cruise who tell you how much less they paid but they are exactly who you should be listening to if you really are interested in saving money. Those folks have already found excellent TA's who are experienced and knowledgeable about cruises AND obviously value the business of the person who is sharing info with you enough to give them something back. I give you the name of my TA but that's not fair to the agencies who are participating in this conversation and offering their help. Look back up through the thread and contact one of two of them. Once you build a relationship with a TA you will wonder why you ever spent so much time on the phone with the cruise line yourself, checked prices daily or sweated the stuff the TA will do for you. (No, I'm not a TA and I have no relative who is. I just know a good deal when I see it -- better price and someone doing all the work for me!)

Re: Best Agency based on PRICE only

As far as I can see (60+ cruises) the price is constant between agencies and equals that of the cruise line. Get someone you are comfortable with and will be there when you need them. However, you can get different perks. These are OBC, specialty dining, free travel insurance, prepaid gratuities, etc. We normall get a combo of these. We very seldom require an agent to do any work aside from arranging the booking with the cruise line--we always have the cruise and category and often the stateroom selected. If an agent has to do a lot of hand-holding with you, make changes, answer questions and on and on--you shouldn't expect anything extra. The best we have done was a free (we had to pay taxes) transatlantic on the Millennium. peace . . .

Cruises-n-more has been the best for me for the last 2 cruises, but I always check Cruise Complete. It makes booking a cruise SOOOO easy!

as an agent,it is the service i provide, not so much the price. i would live to find the cheapest bundle at all times, but from my experience, it is not always the best. you can go right ahead and book with the on line trave agencies. (i am also an agent for them) however none will be an advocate when something fails.
