    Very disappointed in Cruise Fish

Have always raved about it until now. Was watching Veendam for Bermuda for Sept. 4. 72% cabins available had not moved for weeks; I did ask question: how often is cruise fish updated. Went to book today and it's sold out; still shows 72%. How could that huge of a mistake ever happen??? Crushed! Devastated!

I'm sorry to hear you are disappointed.

Sometimes when a cruise suddenly stops returning any price at all (which seems the case of that sept 4 Veendam cruise) our software treats it as a transient error (as if the cruise line web site was down) and doesn't update the cruise status pending a further refresh.

    It's probably what happened here.

I'll see what I can do to fine tune our system in order to better detect a sold out cruise like it happened here.

In any case your feedback is useful, appreciated and will contribute in time to make CF a better tool.

Sarnia, continue to monitor your cruise. Sometimes availability opens up.

    Good luck

Thanks Betsy My travel agent did get us waitlisted but have no idea what the price will come in at, if an opening should come up; probably not as low as it was... when I thought due to cruise fish that 72 % of the cateogries were still available. I should have smelled a rat when this figure didn't chagne on cruise fish for a week but did question; how often is it updates and didn't get a reply. Oh well; now debating about booking another line for Bermuda. and on this one Cruise fish says only 17% available so who knows if that's correct or not.

Here's another hint: Go to the website of your cruise and monitor it yourself, so you can book immediately if something opens up. Even the best travel agent may not be on top of price reductions as they occur or may not be able to contact you in time to take advantage of an opening. You are your own best advocate.

    Good luck!

Excellent advice but I must admit; even HALweb cruise site showed one minute; over 90 cabins avaialbel; next minuyte; sold out. Guess they were in process of plugging in guarantee cabins and once they did; realized they were oversold. Everyday, one learns. Don't gamble too hard; you might lose.

This is interesting as it confirms my suspicion: HAL most certainly removed all available cabins at once. When that happens our CF software goes into "safe" mode and assumes an error from the cruise line and thus postpones updating the cruise status.

I'll have to take that into account in future evolutions.

Well now some cabins are back and categories are correctly at 47%.

Please don't blame CF when in fact it's the cruise line that's being versatile.
