    Carnival Past Guest Rates?

I don't see the past guest rates on any Carnival cruises. Since past guest rates are most likely to be my best deal, how do I monitor them? Thanks!

If I understand correctly, you would like to see price variations for past cruises?

I've already been asked to put that historical data online, so maybe it's time to actually do it.

No, Carnival offers lower prices to people who have sailed on Carnival before. Unlike the resident and senior rates that appear from time to time, the "Past Guest" rates are available most of the time and are often the lowest rate offered.

Go to the Carnival site and check the box indicating "Show rates for Past Guests" in the special rates panel and you will see the Past Guest rates listed. They are a very important rate for Carnival cruisers.

    Thanks!

    Ok, now I understand :-)

Unfortunately I don't have a Past Guest number myself (having never sailed Carnival) so I can't test that rate.

Is the Past Guest rate consistent across all cruise dates and ships? In other words is the discount systematic and constant in ratio vs, say, Fun Select?

If that is the case you could simply monitor Fun Select knowing Past Guest should follow the same pattern (with an additional discount).

No, there isn't any direct relationship to any of the other rates. But, you do not need to enter a Past Guest Number to see the rates.

Just check the box that says "I don't want to enter my Past Guest Number" and you will see the Past Guest rates when they are available, which is most of the time. Sometimes they will be a much better price, other times the price might be the same but there are some free upgrades. It just depends on what deal they decide to offer.

On Carnival, the most common and usually the best discounted rates are the ones for seniors 55+, and the Past Guest rate. Also, they sometimes offer heavily discounted Pack n Go rates near to sail time if the ship has too many unsold cabins.

Carnival doesn't seem to offer the resident rates as often as some of the other lines, and I understand the difficulty in handling that one. I think you would need to put a field for state of residence in the customer profile and check it for customers who have purchased an alert on a particular cruise.

This is turning into a great tool for cruisers, keep up the good work!

But I don't see where that box is. In Carnival's standard booking process you can enter the past guest number at the end, once the guest/rate/cabin selection process is done. Where do you find that "I don't want to enter my Past Guest" box?

    Re: Carnival Past Guest Rates?

It is in the initial search filter page, "Find a Cruise", and the option should be available before any cruise results are displayed. Start here from the main page...

    http://www.carnival.com/cms/find_a_cruise/findcruiseb.aspx

I am not sure where you are starting in order to capture your data, but also look at the URL you are using. For instance, if I select 2 guests, Embarkation from Galveston, show Senior Rates, Show Past Guest rates, and click the search button, I get this URL for the results page...

    http://www.carnival.com/BookingEngine/SailingSearch/search2?embkCode=GAL&PGEnable=Y&Senior=Y&PastGuest=Y&numGuests=2

Notice that all of the options are in the URL. Perhaps you can use this.

    Thanks for the pointer.

Past Guest rate is now enabled and should start to appear on all Carnival ships within 24h.
