    Residency and senior discounts

Hi Titus, Does Cruisefish monitor residency and senior discounts? I don't remember putting down my state when I came on here. I recently caught a residency discount for my state but it would be great if Cruisefish checked. Thank you for your hard work and knowledge that you are sharing here.

Hi barbt, For now we don't check residency, senior and other discounts on our permanent price run. The cruise price data set (will all currencies) is already very large and would become quite unmanageable if we included all possible permutations. However what we plan to do is maybe check these specific discounts once an alert has been defined. But it will require some development. In any case it's a frequently requested feature and high on my TODO list.

I understand. I'm still checking occasionally anyway and thank you for what you are doing. If we ever cruise together, I will definitely treat you to a drink or two (or three)--you notified me of a Celebrity price drop that I would not have caught otherwise as it lasted less then 24 hours.

Good afternoon Titus, I just purchased some credits to monitor a couple of cruises we recently booked. I noticed there is now an option for "USD/Sr". Does that mean you are now monitoring senior discounts? Any chance for residency discounts anytime soon? Many thanks for your hard work. I've been spreading the word about CruiseFish.

Yes, senior rates are supported by CF on most lines now. Residency discounts are a bit harder as so many states are involved. If I could meaningfully test only a couple states for residency rates it would become feasible. In other words, are some states always included in these discounts?

We have gotten a resident rate on several occasions on Royal Caribbean so I know that Alabama is often included. I would be happy for you to use Alabama as a test case (and would put a smiley face here if I knew how????)

I would guess that you have more cruisers from Florida than anywhere else. I could be wrong...but I suspect they cruise the most and monitor the most. Maybe you could try FL first with RCI. If there is a large demand for another state then it could be added. I'd guess a state like North Dakota for example isn't a state with a lot of demand - either by cruisers or with discounts by the cruise lines.

I did buy that alert package today based on the military rate monitoring you just added. Those rates pop up often and many times are very short lived. Thank you again. I felt like that was the most important thing missing here and it pushed me over the edge in willingness to pay for the service. :)
