When you book, get the itemized total. Your TA is full of it. If it drops here, it's dropped.

I won't use a TA. Once they have you booked, they are off and running to get other bookings, and you are not a priority anymore.

You can get the same or better fares from the cruise lines themselves. And when a better fare comes along, the cruise lines are directly linked into their reservation system, so if they change it for you, you know it's changed. If you get a TA to tell you they will have it changed, it means they might deal with the cruise lines after hanging up with you, or will have to call you back with bad news that may have been fixed.

Maybe that's the case with your TA. It isn't the case with mine.

When I booked directly with the cruise lines, I would get nothing; at least I get an OBC; or two.

I suggest that you follow your method; and I will follow mine. But I think that what you might need is a BETTER TA.

Of course, that is only my opinion.

Ok, first of all, my reply was directed to Issyalex, who is doubtful of their TA.

Second of all, this was my opinion and experience, and I was flaming no one at all.

I don't need your suggestion to follow my method, and don't really care if you follow yours.

I never mentioned having a TA, so I don't think I can get a better one over none.

Why are you being so aggressive? As stated before, I am flaming at no one. There's no reason to be so aggressive to me.

if I book directly with celebrity it is more expensive than with a TA, as our TA's give us at least a 10% discount plus mayby OBC. so it's a catch 22. :(

I agree, get a good TA. Mine always gives me a good OBC and it's combinable with the OBC I get for booking onboard.

I can call my TA when I see a price drop and immediately get a new total confirmed. She's great.

    Travel Agent

    Good morning to all,

I have used a TA for over 10 years and I'm very happy with her service and the "deals" she can find. When I send her a price drop email, within an hour my cost(s) have been adjusted. I just feel using a TA is the way to go.

My call only - Cheers, Dennis

@ bellybutton- My apologies, after rereading, I completely misunderstood you.

    Re: travel agents-

I guess good travel agents are as scarce as a good hair stylist. I've never found one. We used a TA for our first cruise, our honeymoon, years ago. Not only was there no advantages, like OBC, but many of the special honeymoon touches I ordered were lost in translation somewhere. I wasn't charged for the stuff she didn't get me, but it was my honeymoon! So, I know, get a better TA. I tried, I used friends TAs, I shopped around for the nicest store front TA. Nothing has worked. I've even had to go so far as to cancel something because I found better deals online myself. All I know is since using the cruise consultant with the cruiseline, I get everything I expect, and don't have to go to the customer service counter, or whatever it's called, to find out where something is.

    Re: Travel Agent

a lot of TA's in the UK don't know anything about Celebrity's or RCI's price drop promise. I try to book with a cruise specialist TA but sometimes a normal TA will give a better price. in Scotland and the UK if we cancel a cruise/holiday before final payment we loose our deposit but the nearer we get to the payment day the more we loose and if it is after final payment we still have to pay all of the cruise/holiday.

But what happens if you book directly with RCI or X in the UK? Do they honor the price drops like they do in the US?

    Re: Travel Agent

as I have never booked direct with Celebrity or RCI, because they are more expensive, I don't know but would like to think they would honour price drops but I think we have to ask them!! . as far as I know we are only allowed one price drop free then we have to pay a fee if we want anymore!!

    Re: Travel Agent

Quick question: Is there a reason why you have to use a TA in the UK? I would think you could us a TA anywhere you want - even one in the US.
