    Princess Price Drop not showing or notice?

    12/7/11 Golden Princess to Hawaii Did not get notice of significant price drop in category BA, all category's had drop. Cat BA still lists on CruiseFish at @ $2,525pp, Princess lists it for $2,349pp. Update time and date are current but I caught it 6 hours ago?

    I really hate to say this but not sure if I can trust CruiseFish.net. For that reason I still check all 5 of our upcoming cruises on my own, this has happened several times now. Called Princess and they applied price drop this morning...

    Rarely (on occasion) do I get notifications of price up's, down's sideways or whatever...

    What's up?

    I have been watching some Princess cruises and the only price drops I have seen are Can $ ones, hardly ever any others in comparison to other lines. I am a bit puzzled myself by various aspects of CF but I don't seem to be receiving answers on the forum. But my thanks go to Titus for doing his best to provide a useful service.

    I am in Europe at the moment and the Princess site won't let me check in US $, only pounds sterling so I have no way of finding out whether CF pricing is accurate.

    Indeed, there is a problem with Princess prices. They are updated but somehow end up not reflecting the real display prices. I'm looking at that issue and will fix it for good very quickly.

    Ocean Princess 18 day 7th June Dover - Dover dropped $200 this morning, CF does show correct price but does not show it as a price drop or in red, and there is no mention of it on the price drop history in the list of all lines price drops, as far as I can see anyway.

    It should be fixed now. But prices will take a few hours to update on the first run.

    Princess uses a very stupid system to display currencies: they try to detect the country from where you are connecting to their site to select the relevant currency. So (for example) an American cruiser checking prices while traveling in Europe won't be able to see USD prices.

    Hence the difficulty in collecting correct prices with Princess, but I'm working on making it 100% reliable.

    Is there a better way to select the display currency that I don't know of?

    Jim, I started this post and not sure what is going on??? I checked and received 2 other price drops from Princess yesterday and got no email from CF??? They where big ones too! Looks like you don't check everyday Maybe??? Not sure what is going on. -4/3/12 Star Princess: Category BA dropped to $1599.00 from $1899.00, back up to $1899.00 today as your site shows.

    -4-13-12 Star Princess: Category I dropped to $1699.00 from $1905.00, back up to $1905.00 today as your site shows.

    I am not taking into account our Platinum level discounts, just list pricing...

    Obviously a 1 or 2 day drop but again, I received nothing from CF, my email and preferences appear to be correct???

    Lucky I checked because it saved us between the 2 cruises about $1000.00 for the 2 of us...

    I know you mentioned you where having issues with Princess but expected to have then ironed out soon???

    hi finucane,

    Princess is still a work-in-progress. They are actively trying to prevent us from monitoring their prices with a host of different underhanded techniques. But a fix is on the way to make it more reliable.

    Princess would rather not let their customers find out about price drops.

    Of coarse they don't want to share that info, I understand that...

    The problem as I see it is they are always going to be trying to outwit CruiseFish and that keeps me on my guard to always check my own prices anyway, kind of defeats the purpose. Scary!

    I hope you figure it out but not sure how you can but your diligent and for that I give you a lot of credit and am appreciative.

    If/when you figure out how to stay one step ahead of the cruise industry please post it, I'll feel more secure with trusting the prices...

    Thanx for all you do and I feel that your site is Rock On! I use a lot of the other features...

    There are no Princess price drops showing at all for the last several days, of course maybe they just didn't any??? and many prices don't seem to have been updated from 25th May. I have received several price drop notifications from my travel agent recently but they are not showing on CF. I know you have problems historically with Princess but just thought you might like to know that there are still problems.

    Thanks for the heads up. The Princess updater process has been stuck for the last couple days (this does not affect other lines). It is now running again.

    I am looking into it.

    Still having the forever eternal problems and false email notices.

    Just received "We have noticed the following changes": - Ship: Star Princess - Cruise: 28 days Hawaii Tahiti & Samoa Roundtrip From Los Angeles - Saildate: 2013-03-26 - Alert type: Balcony BA - Category: Balcony BA - is GONE in: USD

    Not so, 2 minutes after alert arrived I checked the Princess web site and it was still available...

    I hate to say this but it has been my experience that I just can't trust the responses from CF. We cruise a lot, have 6 on the books right now and have never received a notice that was correct... Honestly, I really hate to say that!!! I understand Jim, you keep saying Princess has issues but when can we trust CF to be accurate with them? Although I have paid and use your service for all our cruises I still check manually all 6 of our bookings. I shouldn't have to do that...

    Please, please, "please look into it" harder!

    Have not heard back from you yet on resolution of these countless errors with Princess bookings...

    Since my last posting 7 days ago I have received 3-4 same notices from CF that prices for that category are "GONE" when in fact they are still on the princess site. Again, until you get or no get a grip on a solution for Princess bookings I am afraid I cannot trust CF. Problems with Princess Bookings have been an ongoing battle, I hope you get control of these issues ASAP once and for all... I bought your product and am not getting the service you claim to deliver. Don't want to be nasty about it but if you sell something it should work. I have sold many a friend on your product... PLEASE JUST FIX IT IS ALL WE ASK!

    Hi,

    Regarding GONE messages, they are mostly harmless. It just means that the spider (price collecting program) was temporarily unable to contact princess' servers and will retry in a few hours. When that happens it updates the current saildate's timestamp which in turn makes the non-updated prices appear as GONE to the program.

    Please note that those transient errors don't affect price accuracy. Prices are correct on Princess now, otherwise let me know.

    In any case, being just back from vacation, I am again working on improving Princess reliability to remove spurious GONE/BACK events.

    Thank you Jim... Also on Princess Star 4/13/ 12, category I they had a price "increase" and I received no notice yesterday or day before. It did in fact go up and one of my preference's is set to "price is up since last alert", I received nothing.............

    Thanx for finally getting back to me, hope you had a good vacation but also hope you finally get these long running bugs worked out so we feel confident in your service...
