    CruiseFish - no longer useful?

I used to be a HUGE CruiseFish fan.  When I signed up for alerts, I would get notifications right away when my conditions were met.  I would confirm these through a mock booking on the cruise line's website - I was confident that CF was tracking well.

Now?  Not so much.  I track mostly Royal Caribbean cruises, so maybe RC's recent BOGOHO or discount specials are messing up CF pricing.  But, for over 6 months now, Cruise Fish no longer correlates well with cruise line pricing.   I have multiple alerts active right now, and most of them are inaccurate to website pricing.

I agree, however, I do believe Royal's posting of pricing has changed a lot. I see a price on their website, but when I follow through I get a completely different price. Sadly I think its Royal and not CF.

Todd I so agree with you! Seems CF has dropped the ball more lately then they've carried it. I too subscribe to CF and most always am tracking a cruise. It seems this last year whenever theres a price drop I've found it myself, applied for it and been approved to receive it before I am even notified from CF there is a drop. AND...most times the ones CF gives me is the prior one than the one I am receiving. When mine runs out not sure I will renew the subscription. I am paying CF and doing all the work! SAD...because when it work it was awesome.

I agree with Trekker....it is the new mumbo jumbo pricing from Royal that is to blame.  I hate it!

Celebrity pricing follies have marginalized CF for X as well. Too Bad .

I cruise exclusively on Royal.  Believe me, I am just as frustrated as most of the post here.  However, I have found that whenever there is a price drop on RCL's website, I do get a CF price alert.  Once I get a price alert, I will just go into RCL's website to actually do a mack booking to confirm.  One thing worth noting, sometimes, the prices show in the search summary page on the RCL website may actually be higher or lower than the actual price when you actually book the cruise.

i still use CF as my alerts; but for actually pricing I go to RCL's website.

To the CF staff, I know the BOGOHO and BOGO pricing is RCL's way to mess you guys up.  I don't know the source of price data; but maybe it is time to put your heads together and show RCL u guys are smarter and more agile than they are.

    Merry Christmas!

Maybe you RCL Guys should try a different cruise line.

Recently received a price drop for a Celebrity Constellation sailing and called my TA and we got the upgrade immediately......

Thank you Titus & enjoy your vacation. I just HATE these stupid BOGOHO and BOGO pricing promotions. Just give me the price already!!!

I am guessing that at one time it was useful? I just checked two Carnival cruises I took in December and found neither of the prices I paid listed. Anyone know why this might happen? I have only been a user for about 2 months and have found it useless so far.

As a member for several years, I have found CF to be VERY useful and it has saved us hundreds.  The trend today is not as many price reductions as the demand is higher.  I don't think two months is ample time to make an educated judgement.

I too have found it VERY useful in the past.   When I used to get price drop alerts, they were timely, and accurate - it was a very exciting email to get indeed!   I have used Cruise Fish to grab price drops of several hundreds of dollars, and I have also used it to watch for pricing on upgraded cabins - and even grabbed a higher category when its price dropped.

But, please note that Titus has responded to this thread - which means that he is aware of the problems, and will be working to fix them after the Christmas holidays.   Hang in there!  If CF becomes like it used to be - you'll be glad you stuck it out.

Agree, CF has saved me $1,000's of $$$. As a long time Celebrity cruiser, I'm continually astonished that the X website can't even get the pricing right a lot of the time. With all the overlapping promotions encumbered with conflicting Terms and Conditions, I never know what the actual prices and amenities are. Even my TA gets annoyed trying to figure it out.

Expecting Titus to unravel the mess overnight is unrealistic, but investing $.99 now and then has netted me considerable returns. I'll stick with CF even if it's correct only part of the time.

Re: CruiseFish - no longer useful?

We took a TA on celebrity this past Novemeber at a vlery low price that never appeared on CF.  While it surely isn't perfect, I still find it a help in tracking prices which I am doing for about six cruises right now.  I still check on my own but CF is a good, if imperfect, backup..  As long as the cost for it remains the same, I'll stick with it
