    alert incorrect

I got an alert for FOS, royal Caribbean 6/16/13 cruise that prices were down for the residency rate. Well, I went and called RC and searched online and no where are these prices show up any where.

Were these just entered in the wrong sailing?

    Royals site: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/booking/setDepartureInfo/checkAvailability.do?cabinClassType=&packageCode=FR07E081&shipCode=FR&sailDate=1130616&jumpToStateroom=&totalStaterooms=1&adultCount=2&childCount=0&hasAir=N&state=PA

When posting a possible bug report can you please include a link to the cruise?

If you check http://www.cruisefish.net/finder.md/price.md?id_rate=71739;id_cruise=23418;id_cabin_category=182 you will see that cabin D2 for PA residents had a very short duration drop so that might explain why you couldn't take advantage of it.

NB: to include a live link in a post you have to enclose it in angle brackets like that -> <link>

NB2: the CF link should be the 'permalink' you find in the blue info box above the price table

    Thanks.

I checked cruisefish right away when I got the alert. It seemed that just about all categories had price changes showing here.

I then went on RC site to check prices and called RC. None of those changes existed at that time...however, these changes still showed up here.

When I posted on this forum thoses prices were still showing for at another hour or so. I have other cabins booked as well, so these lower price would have been great. So disappointed I missed it!

So, really when I got alerted by cruisefish, the alert really came too late. I still however love this site, but I see I still need to check for price changes on my own.

Cruise fish only checks every certain amount of hours. It can't be doing it ever few minutes. I'm not sure what the exact time schedule is though.

I do know that if RCI makes a change immediately after cruisefish checks, cruise fish won't pick it up until the next check. And sometimes RCI's trigger to go back to a higher price is after a certain amount of cruises are booked at that rate. That means cruisefish could find the rate and by the time you get the email notification, others have already booked the category at the new low rate meaning it has already popped back to the higher rate by the time you try to book it. The cruisefish price will then go back to the high rate during the next price check.

Of course it can't be a perfect system since it isn't a live source of prices. But it's better than doing a constant price check for ourselves especially when we have multiple cruises booked. I do admit to checking prices myself. I once found a lower price on RCI's site and had the price adjustment made 10 minutes before cruisefish sent me the email. Cruisefish must have checked at 9pm and I got the email a few minutes later. My price adjustment had been made at about 8:50 since I had just checked for myself.

For $1 a cruise, the periodic checking and notification is a deal - but not an absolute guarantee. There will always be a slight delay due to the nature of the system.
