OK, I see the problem now. When a special rate (3 day sale, etc.) occurs it is announced as "Fun Select". I will create a special column for these rates as soon as I'm back at work next week.

Titus, here is a perfect example of the issue that started this thread to begin with. Here is the notification:

    http://www.cruisefish.net/?id_cruise=13050

Cruisefish is reporting that the Fun Select Rates have dropped. For instance, it says the 4d and all other interior cabins have dropped to $509. If you check with Carnival, it is not the Fun Select rate that has dropped, but the Fun Saver rate instead. The reason all interior categories are the same price is because the Fun Select rate for interior is for a guarantee cabin. You could book into the Fun Select rate, but you would not know which type of interior cabin you would get. I hope this makes sense, but bottom line is cruisefish is not reporting Fun Select, it is reporting Fun Saver.

This not completely accurate: most FunSelect interiors had dropped to 509, but category 4S dropped to 609 and 4J to 579. This drop lasted only a few hours, so when you called or checked with Carnival prices were back to "normal". Actually what probably happened is a special "Sale" rate that got folded into FunSelect, which is a known issue.

I am currently trying to find the best way to manage these special "Sale" rates with a separate column. But I'm pretty positive that CF doesn't confuse Fun Select with Fun Saver.

See this extract of your alert, where not all interiors fall to 509:

I am currently working on a solution for Carnival special rates (Sales, etc.) but I need an example cruise to test it.

Does anyone know of a Carnival cruise with CURRENT special promotional rates?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for. But one current special promotion that should be available until the end of today is on the Carnival Freedom out of Fort Lauderdale, eight days on March 9, 2013.

I don't know if my link will work for you. But you can give it a try.

    http://www.carnival.com/BookingEngine/StateRoom/stateroom2?embkCode=FLL&itinCode=ECL&durDays=8&shipCode=FD&subRegionCode=CE&sailDate=3/9/2013&sailingID=63296&numGuests=2&showDbl=False&isOver55=N&isPastGuest=Y&stateCode=FL&isMilitary=N&pCompare=PNS

It's part of this sale which I don't know is what you are looking for. "Starting today, September 11, 2012, Carnival is hosting a 3 Day Sale for select sailings through May 2013. Book now and you'll save up to $300 per stateroom! Plus, you can reserve your booking with a 50% reduced deposit. That's not all! If you are a past guest of Carnival, you'll receive Past Guest rates, Best Available upgrades and a 50% reduced deposit on select sailings through May 2013."

Alas I looked too late and the sale seems over now.

Thanks for the try though :)

Re: Cruisefish Posting wrong rate codes

I'll keep an eye out for the sale to help correct the issue. As for the Fun Select actually posting the rates for Fun Saver, I am certain this is a problem, its just that due to time constraints I have not been able to post in the forum. For example, when all balcony categories drop or rise to the exact same rate i.e 8n, 8f, 8k, 8e, 8d , 8c, 8b, 8a all are now $879, this means (and I have verified it myself, that the Fun Saver Rate is being reported. This is because the Fun Saver rate is for a BL, which is a balcony gurantee, but Carnival will not say what category balcony you will receive, this is why the rate looks the same for all balcony categories. There are many times when the Fun Select is reporting correctly, but it seems your programming cannot decipher the difference between a Fun Saver and a Fun Select, it is reporting both.

Similar problem with Celebrity. today there are wrong codes and prices for the 10/27/12 transatlantic. When I talked to celebrity to try and book, they don't even haave those codes for the suite and aquaclass categories.

I have add supported for special rates on Carnival.

    Example: http://www.cruisefish.net/finder.md?id_cruise=17857

When a new "Sale" rate appears a new column is created and existing alerts will receive a notification for that new rate.
