Costa Luminosa 2009 inaugural cruise photo album

We had a great itinerary with this cruise: Venice to Venice by way of Istanbul, Athens and several islands.

The brand new Luminosa was not on par with a Celebrity ship: vibrations, bland food, few dining options, tacky decor, constant announcements in 5 languages, etc.

But it was our first cruise so it had the sheen of novelty. The ports were incredible and leaving through Venice's grand canal was, of course, spectacular.

    First stop: Olympia, Greece.

Your first cruise ? Really? I'm amazed that you have put so much thought and effort into Cruise Fish and are not a seasoned cruiser. Or did you mean first Costa cruise?

That was a great itinerary. We have sailed the Med, but not to those ports (we missed Athens because of riots, never had the others scheduled). We would really like to get to Istanbul someday. We have an overnight in Venice coming up on a Carnival Breeze cruise in October.

Was one of the islands you stopped at Crete? Here are a few shots from there.

No really, our first cruise ever. Having never been to any of the ports was a big draw of course.

Istanbul is a magical place, worth several days of stay.

No but we stopped in Rhodes (for which I can't seem to find any pictures).

A few shots from the museum at Olympia where some of the most beautiful finds are displayed.
