CF will not be free much longer

Dear CF users, With the success of CF's alert system also comes increased expenses to host a server. And all the data crunching on several cruise lines takes a powerful one with a lot of bandwidth. So we are going to switch to a paying service very soon. Existing users with alerts will of course be grandfathered and current alerts remain free. Only new ones will now cost $1 USD. For this price we monitor a single cabin category, type or class until saildate with an unlimited number of e-mail notifications. Users wishing to enter a new price alert will be redirected to PayPal to purchase some credit with minimum of $5 USD. That credit will then be debited each time a new alert on a cabin category, type or class is created. Alerts on new ships, cruise types and saildates will remain free for the foreseeable future. Cheers,

I'm happy that you are becoming successful, but unhappy that you will now charge for this service.

With the potential savings, I think it's well worth the cost.

If you were able to track resident, senior or military rates I might consider it. But unfortunately do not see much value in the service as is.

I feel that this is a bad decision to change from providing a service to charging. That is up to you and it is up to me to decide to stop using your site. Best of luck with your choice.

Cruisefish is a great program but I have to agree that the ability to factor in resident rates and senior rates should be added. I would be happy to pay under those circumstances. Those two things have accounted for most of the price drops that we have gotten recently so that it is very important for us to be tracking them. If they are not included, then I have to do it myself daily anyway............. Thanks in advance for considering the above.

Thanks for your frank feedback. I am definitely planning to support senior, resident, etc. discounts. I just have to find an elegant way to include them in the database.

It's the Early Saver rates on Carnival that I need to watch.

It is not worth it if you want to track multiple categories for a saling. Also the site does not track past passenger prices. I found a better site that is free.

I was lucky enough to start tracking before you charged. I had given up hope of ever seeing a price drop on my cruise. Then I received an e-mail from CF which ended up with a $540 OBC to my account. Would I pay $1 to save $500, I think so! Thanks for your great website!

Just to let you know that I recently signed up and am more than happy to pay the nominal fee for monitoring. Heck, the graphical data alone is valuable (and free!). Very impressive.

I work in IT and know that internet services are not free to provide, especially those of any value. I hope the site is healthy financially and that more people learn about it (I'm doing my part).

    Greetings Titus,

No problem with the cost - well worth the buck. Saw your picture and thought I would try to match it. Cheers,
